چکیده

In railways, the long-term strategic planning is process of evaluating improvements to railway network (e.g., upgrading a single track line double line) and changes composition/frequency train services adding 1 per hour along certain route). The effects different combinations infrastructure upgrades updated (also called scenarios), are usually evaluated by creating new feasible timetables followed extensive simulation. Strategic Train Timetabling (STT) indeed task producing tentative for these what-if scenarios. Unlike more classic timetabling, STT can often overlook (or at least give less importance to) some complementary aspects, such as crew rolling stock scheduling. On other hand, scenarios likely lead very timetables, hindering common effective practice using existing warm start solution process. We introduce concept quasi-periodic that where subsets trains need almost (rather than precisely) same minute every period. additional flexibility offered turned out be crucial in real-life characterized elevated traffic. describe MILP based approach timetabling we test it on 4 realistic an important Norway. produced our algorithm were ultimately used Norwegian Railway Directorate select 3 phasing progressive expansion J?ren line.

A Sequencing Approach for Train Timetabling

Train scheduling is a complex and time consuming task of vital importance in many countries. To schedule trains more accurately, efficiently and robustly than permitted by current techniques a novel job shop approach is proposed and implemented. Unique characteristics of train scheduling are firstly incorporated into the disjunctive graph representation of the solution. Constructive algorithms ...

A discrete-event optimization framework for mixed-speed train timetabling problem

Railway scheduling is a complex task of rail operators that involves the generation of a conflict-free train timetable. This paper presents a discrete-event simulation-based optimization approach for solving the train timetabling problem to minimize total weighted unplanned stop time in a hybrid single and double track railway networks. The designed simulation model is used as a platform for ge...

Train Timetabling Problem for Complex Railway Systems

This paper deals with the design of timetables for complex railway systems. Rail transportation has become a rapid, clean and efficient way to transport passengers and freights. A good timetable design is crucial to ensure the quality of the services trying to improve the efficiency of the whole system. Only such a sustainable transportation system will be in accordance to the requirements of f...

Passenger Centric Train Timetabling Problem

The aim of this paper is to analyze and to improve the current planning process of the passenger railway service in light of the recent railway market changes. In order to do so, we introduce the Passenger Centric Train Timetabling Problem. The originality of our approach is that we account for the passenger satisfaction in the design of the timetable. We consider both types of timetable(s): cy...

A Matching Approach for Periodic Timetabling

The periodic event scheduling problem (PESP) is a well studied problem known as intrinsically hard, but with important applications mainly for finding good timetables in public transportation. In this paper we consider PESP in public transportation, but in a reduced version (r-PESP) in which the driving and waiting times of the vehicles are fixed to their lower bounds. This results in a still N...
